 The 2008 Major Yankees saved their best for last and pulled out a stunning, come from behind victory over the Major Indians Thursday night at Day Creek Park. It was an exciting end to the Vineyard Litle League's Major Division season.
Trailing 4 -1 in the bottom of the sixth, the Yanks were able to generate 3 runs to tie the game and then pulled out the victory in the bottom of the 8th inning on Jared Gagnon's game winning hit over the right fielder's head. This was truly a "Team" victory as the boys pulled together when all the odds were stacked against them to get the W.
Team awards for the game were as follows:
Golden Arm - Rudy Castillo & Jared Gagnon
Hustle Awards - Jonathan Olsen, Ryan Hoffman, Ryan Traber, Josh Vega
Web Gem - Niko Navarro aka "Craig Nettles"
Silver Sluggers - Matt Nishanian, Anthony Rojas & Niko Navarro all had one hit apiece.
Golden Gloves - Matt Nishanian (Catcher), Anthony Rojas (2nd base) & Niko Navarro (3rd base)
Big STICK Award - Rudy Castillo (2 for 4, 2 RBI's, 1 run) & Jared Gagnon (3 for 4, 3 RBI's, 1 run, 2 doubles)
Mr POSTIVE - THE ENTIRE YANKEES TEAM that kept believing and never gave up which helped to pull out the victory!

The closing day ceremonies start @ 9 am. Please have the boys at the field by 8:45 am. The boys will be receiving their 2nd Place trophies @ the ceremony!!!
